If you teach science to primary students, then you should definitely know about Sid the Science Kid of PBS Kids.
Sid the Science Kid episodes can be watched online- they have great songs and definitely promote equity in science education. One of my favorite songs is embedded below. If you are doing any work on charts, data tables, or making observations- I think this video and song will reinforce and help students remember the importance of charts.
The site is very kid friendly with some well made interactives: a virtual hand lens, a video player, and an interactive science notebook (you can print the pages).
The Teacher and Parents page contains:
- activities to support the episodes- Here is the activity for I love charts
- a resources page with a Glossary, video/song listing, & links to other educational materials
- site usage tips
Also find several short clips on the PBS Channel on YouTube.
Applications for Science Teachers: K-2 science teachers will find engaging episodes and songs for supporting our youngest scientists. Highly recommended.
I appreciate these thoughts!
