This paper describes challenges and opportunities as we engage ELLs with the Next Generation Science Standards. The paper highlights 4 of the 8 Practices of Science and Engineering as a focus for English Language Learners:

  • Developing and Using Models
  • Developing Explanations (for Science) and Designing Solutions (for Engineering).
  • Engaging in Argument from Evidence.
  • Obtaining, Evaluating and Communicating Information
