With an 11 month old in the house I have been sucked into the world of PBS Kids’ Shows… and to be honest, it’s not a bad world to be in. Most of the programing has an intentional math and science connection (Curious George, Sid the Science Kid, Dinosaur Train, and The Cat in the Hat Knows a lot about That) along with catchy songs and interesting ideas for activities.

While perusing The Cat in the Hat Knows a lot About That, I discovered a very handy Explorers Guide to support teachers and parents in Doing Science with young kids.

The Explorers Guide contains:

  • Information on Questioning, Predicting, Investigating, Comparing, etc
  • 6 Guidelines for Doing Science with young learners
  • Top 10 Tips for Engaging kids in science

Possible Uses: I think this would be a wonderful addition to a Math/Science Family Night (stay tuned for an upcoming post on resources for Science Family Nights) or even a short guide for a new/reluctant teacher of primary science.

It’s time to Go Go Go Go… on an adventure!
