Pringles Challenge 2010

The Pringles Challenge is an engaging design challenge for students. The 2010 version is approaching fast- registration is due April 3, 2010.

The challenge is simple (or is it)- design a package that will allow a single Pringles Potato Chip to travel unscathed through the care of the US Postal Service to another US location. See the Pringles Challenge site for full details and dates.

Applications for Science Teachers: This challenge is a great opportunity for students to engage in the design process. In Washington State, one of our Science Essential Academic Learning Requirements is Application- a large part of Application is an understanding of solving real world problems through the design process.

This challenge has been around for awhile- see a photo of student designs from the Science Goddess on her blog What it’s Like on the Inside
