National Lab Day is somewhat unfortunately named since it is neither a single day nor confined to a traditional lab setting.
National Lab Day is a nationwide initiative to create collaborative communities between students, educators, and the STEM community. I wrote a post on NLD back in November 2009, and the site has improved significantly in terms of utility and design.
The NLD site provides:
- a gateway for connecting teachers, students, STEM professionals, higher educators, etc
- a collection of STEM project resources from PBS, NASA, NSTA, Intel, and many more
- examples of current STEM projects
