Open Learning Initiative

Screen shot 2009-09-11 at 5.46.53 PMOpen Learning Initiative was mentioned today by Richard Byrne of Free Technology for Teachers and since I don’t usually have any original ideas- I thought I would mention this resource also. Open Learning Initiatives offers open and free courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Statistics. You can create a free account for tracking your progress or just jump in to check out a course.

Applications for Science Teachers: This could be a great resource for providing extension opportunities or for finding ideas for lessons and materials. The site offers course packages that can be used for free. These courses could also be used by teachers as PD to develop their own adult scientific literacy in science.
