As a final entry (for now) on Science PLCs I wanted to mention a resource from NSTA. A couple of months ago I signed up for NSTA Communities- a Social Networking site for NSTA members. I have to admit that I have done little more than create an account- however, there are several interesting features of this site. If you are an NSTA member I would highly recommend setting up an account HERE.
Applications for Science Teachers: NSTA Communities seems like a great way for science educators to connect with other science educators from around the country who have similar job descriptions and values. When you sign up you are asked to pick areas in Science Education you “need help with” and “can help with”. The site generates a visual “target” showing other members who may have similar interests. Also, if you are not a member of NSTA- you can sign up HERE.
