I’m excited to announce that this spring I’m facilitating a FREE online workshop for K-8 science teachers about supporting productive argumentation. Below are details about the session. Special thanks to Olympic ESD in Bremerton for sponsoring this event.

Title: Science Practices in Action- Productive Argumentation in K-8

Dates/Times:

  • Thurs, May 22nd, 2025 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Synchronous Online
    • One hour asynchronous task between sessions
  • Thurs, May 29th 2025 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Synchronous Online

Overview:

Participants in this workshop series will examine the power of productive evidence-based student argumentation in elementary & middle school science. Participants will attend two 2-hr Zoom meetings and also engage in one asynchronous task. Participants will examine several free online resources, readings, classroom videos and strategies. Participants will engage in tasks that will include engaging students in productive argumentation during science learning, collecting snippets of student talk/argumentation and reflecting on implementation of student talk. 

Participants who complete all 5 hours of the course will be eligible to purchase 5 STEM Clock Hours.
