Last spring, I ran an elementary science workshop on supporting elementary science instruction using talk and writing. We got lots of good feedback on the free sessions and we are running the workshop again this winter. Please share this information in your elementary science networks for folks in Washington state. You will find information and links below.

Title: How to Support Talking, Thinking, and Writing in Elementary Science

Dates/Times:

  • Wed, February 19, 2025 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Synchronous Online
  • Wed, March 12, 2025 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Synchronous Online

Overview:

In this 2-part online workshop, participants will work with Kirk Robbins to engage with multiple resources and use collaborative breakout rooms to dig into several tools and strategies for supporting all learners in talking, thinking about, and writing about their science and STEM learning. Participants will analyze and consider readings, video cases, case studies, and tools for supporting effective talk, thinking, and writing in science. Participants will have a brief asynchronous implementation task between the two sessions.
