As a teacher, I feel that one of the best forms of professional development is having an opportunity to observe the teaching practices of others. This is often difficult to arrange in buildings and to be honest it has not been a part of traditional school culture to observe and learn from one another.

The TIMSS Video site currently has 5 video lessons from each of the 5 countries participating in the 1999 TIMSS study. Each video is captioned and contains a transcript plus supporting resources used in the lesson. Users must register before accessing the clips, but registration is FREE and easy.

These videos could be useful for a community of learners, individuals, preservice teachers, professional development providers, or anyone looking to improve their skills at science instruction.
