Ready, Set, Science

I attended an event this week where all participants were given a copy of Ready, Set, Science. This resource does a great job of synthesizing the research findings on K-8 science education into an easy to read and accessible volume. It contains wonderful snapshots of science classrroms.

Applications for Science Teachers: This resource would be an excellent book study for a group of teachers looking to implement inquiry-based science instruction. I can imagine this book being a great resource for elementary and middle school administrators as well. There are many uses for PD providers also.

Digging Deeper: If you want to go deeper into the research then I recommend Taking Science to School: Learning and Teaching Science in Grades K-8 This is the “parent” document of Ready, Set, Science and can be read online for free if you click on the link above.
